Most of us are concerned by things we cannot affect
Learn the great model how to improve this
Worrying doesn't take away tomorrows troubles, it takes away today's peace.
Dear Friends,
In the realm of personal development and productivity, there's a concept that's often talked about as a key to success: the "Circle of Influence Model."
You've probably heard about it in books or seminars. But what exactly is it, and why is it important?
While the Circle of Influence is important, it's just one part of a bigger idea. To really understand it and make the most of it, we need to also know about the "Circle of Control" and the "Circle of Concern."
Together, these three circles give us a way to handle life's challenges and make the most of our opportunities.
The Three Circles
Stephen Covey, the author of "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People," came up with the Circle of Influence Model.
At its heart, this model talks about three key things: Control, Influence, and Acceptance.
Let's look at each one more closely:
1. Circle of Control: Taking Charge of What You Can
The first circle, the Circle of Control, is about things you can directly control.
This includes your thoughts, actions, and behaviors.
It's the part of life where you have the most power to make things happen.
2. Circle of Influence: Making a Difference Where You Can
The second circle, the Circle of Influence, is about things you can't fully control, but where you can still have some impact.
This might be in your relationships, projects, or other situations where you have some say.
Here, the idea is to figure out where you can make a difference and use your strengths to do so.
Even though you might not have total control, you can still make things happen.
3. Circle of Concern: Dealing with Things Outside Your Control
The last circle, the Circle of Concern, is about things you can't control at all.
These might be big issues like the economy, the weather, or global events.
Instead of worrying about them, the best approach here is to accept them and adapt to them.
By accepting what you can't control, you free up your energy to focus on what you can.
Intersections
These circles aren't set in stone.
They often overlap and interact with each other.
Something that's a concern for one person might be something another person can influence or control.
This flexibility means the model can work for individuals, teams, or organizations.
Action and Impact
Overall, the Circle of Influence Model is a simple guide for success in both personal and professional life.
By understanding your concerns, and figuring out where they fit into these circles, you can take action where it matters most.
If you often stress about things you can't control, this model can help. Try using the Circle of Influence Model to focus on what you can change, and don't worry about the rest.
